About me

I’m Michael Beijer, a Dutch patent translator and translation technology developer based in Hastings, UK. As a Dutch technical translator I also handle manuals, specifications and software documentation, and I write marketing copy in English. I work with translators, agencies and direct clients on translation, editing, terminology and workflow.

I have over 30 years of experience and have translated about 25 million words. Fully bilingual in Dutch and English – having grown up with a Dutch father and an American mother – I deliver thoroughly researched, fluent translations in both directions.

I’m particularly focused on clear, consistent technical language: controlled terminology, style alignment and quality checks to reduce downstream rework.

I also build software for translators. Supervertaler is a set of AI-enhanced translation tools, including plugins for Trados Studio and memoQ, and Beijer Dictionary is a free, searchable terminology database. You’ll find the rest on my Tools page.
