Case-adaptive and simultaneous find and replace

Intelligent editing includes intelligent find and replace. In cases where you want to replace a source or target term both in your project and in the attached TM, you can use CafeTran’s Preserve case with replacement and Include Project Segments in the Find and Replace dialogue box.

Imagine that this is the text that you have to translate:

The word 'machine' occurs as ‘MACHINE’, ‘Machine’ and as ‘machine’. Depending on your target language, the translation of this word can occur in different cases too:

Imagine that during reviewing you decided that you want to translate ‘machine’ differently, e.g. with ‘installatie’. Here the Find and Replace options Preserve case with replacement and Include Project Segments come in handy. Choose both options:

To be on the safe side, first click Find to have a look at the instances of the find term:

If you're sure, click the Replace button, to make all necessary changes in one go:

PLEASE NOTE: Other modifications (e.g. articles, adjectives) can be necessary too. Therefore, it is good practice to choose your find term as broad as possible.
