Creating segmentation rules on the fly

WARNING: This feature is not yet available.

During the translation process you can add abbreviations on the fly to the segmentation rules for the source language of your project.

Whenever you encounter a segment that has been split too early, namely after an ‘unknown’ abbreviation (that is: an abbreviation that isn't present in the SRX file for your source language), you click Join one or several times, until the segmentation is correct:

Example:

Sie sind herzlich eingeladen! U.

Click Join:

Sie sind herzlich eingeladen! U.A.

Click Join once more:

Sie sind herzlich eingeladen! U.A.w.

Click Join again:

Sie sind herzlich eingeladen! U.A.w.g.

Now select the unknown abbreviation: ‘U.A.w.g.’ and from the Tools menu select Add abbreviation. A dialogue box is displayed:

Note that the full stops in the abbreviation are escaped by a slash.

When the abbreviation that you want to add contains one or more spaces, these spaces are replaced by ‘\s’:

PLEASE NOTE: The new segmentation will become active in the next new project. Perhaps you want to import the current project again, rather then repeatedly clicking the Join button?
